Attorney David Mejias knows first hand the struggles of life and the innate tenacity that helps people succeed. He was born to politically exiled Cuban parents, and their struggles of trying to rebuild their lives while instilling a sense of gratefulness and pride for the opportunities they were given as American citizens. David’s Cuban heritage made him the target of bullies throughout his life. These life long struggles made David conscious of the theory that all men are created equal and should not be judged lest they be judged themselves. After graduating from SUNY Albany for his bachelor studies, David gained entrance to the esteemed Fordham Law School; he graduated at the top of his class with exceptional accolades and went on to pass the New York State Bar examination and began working towards making a difference in the legal arena.


David Mejias’ Work Against Domestic Violence

Attorney David Mejias favors public office his true calling, he has served Long Island and New York with honor and decorum. He is recognized for his pro-bono work with the Coalition Against Domestic Violence. As a legislator, he secured vast sums of donations in grant funds for The Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Dave Mejias is one of the leading advocates for survivors of domestic violence. Attorney Mejias has spent a considerable amount of time on his Philanthropic endeavors such as a yearly 5-kilometer walk where he donates the proceeds to fight cervical cancer as well as other women’s issues.

Attorney Mejias takes pride in his Long Island roots and shows an unending display of generosity towards its communities. He believes the community spirit found in Long Island can be a model of American Suburbia, believing this can be a good reminder of what community is.
